GSS Annual Awards – Call for Nominations

The Ghana Scholarly Society (GSS) invites nominations for its prestigious annual awards, which recognise excellence in research, innovation, and emerging scholarship across academia, industry, and public service. All nominees must demonstrate clear alignment with the theme of the upcoming GSS Annual Conference. Self-nominations are welcome.

1. GSS Outstanding Innovation Award

Awarded to an individual whose work demonstrates exceptional innovation, international recognition, and leadership within their field.
Eligibility: Open to researchers in academia or industry.
Prize: Plenary lecture at the GSS Annual Conference, commemorative award, and complimentary conference registration.

2. GSS Industry Innovation Award

Recognises a professional whose innovative work in an applied or industry-based context has had measurable, real-world impact.
Eligibility: Open to individuals in industry, NGOs, consultancy, or public service.
Prize: Plenary presentation at the GSS Annual Conference, commemorative award, and complimentary registration.

3. GSS Emerging Scholar Award

Celebrates an early-career academic or professional (within 10 years of PhD or equivalent) who has demonstrated excellence, originality, and leadership potential.
Prize: Plenary presentation at the GSS Annual Conference, commemorative award, and complimentary registration.

General Nomination Requirements (for Awards 1–3)

Each nomination (including self-nominations) must include:

1. A brief CV (maximum 3 pages)

2. A summary of contributions to the field (up to 1,000 words)

3. A 500-word conference synopsis (with a proposed title) explaining how the nominee’s work aligns with the conference theme

4. GSS Best Paper Award

Awarded to the most outstanding academic paper presented at the GSS Annual Conference.
Eligibility: Open to all accepted papers across all thematic tracks. No separate application required.

Selection Process:

1. All accepted papers are automatically considered

2. Track Chairs shortlist candidates based on abstract quality and presentation delivery

3. Final selection by an independent review panel of senior academics

Prize: Certificate of recognition, opportunity to publish in a GSS-affiliated outlet, and featured mention on GSS platforms
